What I am Doing I am writing personal letters to voters in New Hampshire and Iowa. I will keep a record on this site of who I write to (without identifying those people specifically). These will be letters from one concerned American to another. I will encourage them to vote for Ron Paul. If they are Democrats I will encourage them to vote for Dennis Kucinich or Mike Gravel. I will do my utmost to NOT RANT (hard in these times, as it can be!). None of my messages are endorsed by any particular candidate, nor have any candidates reviewed them. In fact, my messages are mildly non-partisan. I am advocating for defense of the Constitution, more specifcally: habeas corpus, protection of free speech, repeal of the Military Commissions Act, return of the troops, rollback of the encroaching police state, etc. It is scary to realize we live in times such that elaborate explanation is unnecessary. Why Write Letters? If I stop someone on the sidewalk and try and tell them about Dr. Paul, Dennis Kucinich or Mike Gravel I have to fight with their schedule and for their attention. It's really hard to get people's attention - it's a precious resource. Tell me, have you ever thrown away without reading, a personal letter that was handwritten? Or an envelope that was hand-addressed? I bet not. If you write to some total stranger and at least hand-address the envelope then that envelope is going to be opened and that letter is going to get attention. All that's needed is to put the names in their minds. I'm not even trying to convince them of anything - I have that much confidence in the message of the "real three" candidates. If the people I write to go out and investigate these three men (Paul, Kucinich, Gravel) then my $0.41 and 8 minutes of time was so worth it. Won't You Join Me? Such a simple thing, reaching out by letter to people you don't know. Hand-written personally addressed letters are always read. It is an opportunity to encourage fellow voters to consider candidates that the mainstream media seems dedicated to ignoring, or perpetually labelling "dark horse." The candidates I favor have had many Internet supporters do amazing things - perhaps there are others out there who, like me, want to contribute more than a donation? The weight of the future is light on brave shoulders. Won't you put yours to the task along with mine? Why "Write to Freedom" Exists I want to be a voice for freedom. I want others to hear that voice and, hopefully, get them to join me (us!) to create a greater, freer and more wonderful United States of America. I worry tremendously about the path we are headed down and this site is my way of "giving back" to promote and, hopefully, help us to get back things I have been lucky enough to enjoy, at least in some small part, this 35 years of life. Things like a President who respects the Constitution (i.e., Ford, Carter, Reagan, Clinton). Things like a President who wants to cut away the deadweight of Federal Government that my taxes support but does not benefit me. (i.e., Reagan) Things like a President who does not want to fight wars in the Middle East. (i.e., Carter) Things like a President who respects individuals and their rights (i.e., Ford, Carter, Reagan). Things I remember we had more of, even only a few short years ago. Things I don't hear politicians talking about! Things the Neocons deny and by their actions say are not important! Things very dear to me. Most of all, I want a President that does not thrive on creating Fear among the citizenry and who believes in Peace. A note on this page: I locked it just because it is basically a mini-mission statement for the page. Anyone can register and post a blog! Comment on the blogs, etc. Write letters and upload them if you want. Or copy an existing letter for inspiration! Or add the addresses you have written to.
